Stripped in New Mexico

Share

We would like to warn those who use campers or motor homes. Recently on the way home from a 4,000-mile trip our locked truck and camper were stolen from a parking lot on the north end of Old Town in Albuquerque, N.M. The truck and camper were found a few days later stripped of everything.

The disturbing scenario is that, as the police told us, this is not uncommon in Albuquerque and an out-of-state tourist is the mark. The police also told us that the ring is organized and due to lack of budget and force, they are unable to control the rip-off. Too late for us, but had we known of this problem ahead of time, this (would have been) one city to bypass. While insurance assists monetarily, the personal loss and claim documentation is unbelievable and certainly a sad ending to any trip.
