Morrison Knudsen Mines California Gold: Morrison Knudsen Corp., Boise, Ida., has entered into a joint venture with Eastmaque Gold Mines Ltd. of Vancouver, British Columbia, to own, develop and operate the American Girl gold mine, now held by Eastmaque in southeastern California, MK Chairman William Agee announced. MK will purchase $2.5 million in stock and contribute $10 million to the venture. The mine produces 2,000 ounces of gold per month. With improvements made this summer, it could increase that yield to about 3,200 ounces a month. When the mine is in full production next May, it should come up with 6,000 ounces of gold each month, MK said.
