San Diego
Warm air and ocean temperatures lured 150,000 San Diegans onto city beaches, lifeguards reported Sunday.
A water temperature of 72 degrees was “about as warm as the ocean gets here in San Diego,” said meteorologist Rich Stitt of the National Weather Service. The air temperature reached a high of 79 degrees Sunday, with humidity of 60% to 90%, Stitt said.
City lifeguards rescued more than 50 people Sunday, lifeguard Michael Knight said. The warm weather is expected to continue today and Tuesday, according to the weather service.
