Deion Sanders of the triple-A Columbus baseball team was arrested on charges he assaulted two fans during a game against the Richmond Braves, a Richmond, Va. city sheriff’s deputy said.

Sanders was charged with two counts of simple assault and was freed after posting $5,000 bail. Sanders was scheduled to appear in court today, a sheriff’s deputy said.

The incident allegedly occurred near the end of game after Sanders was removed for a pinch-hitter in the ninth inning. He changed clothes and went to a concourse at stadium to wait for fans who had heckled him, said George Taylor head of security at the stadium.
