Even with its Tuesday night comedies capturing four of the top five spots, ABC failed last week to halt NBC’s winning streak in the weekly prime-time ratings race, the A.C. Nielsen Co. reported Tuesday. In fact, ABC didn’t even finish second. While NBC was recording its 59th consecutive first-place finish, with an average audience of about 9.5 million homes, CBS was drawing about 8.5 million and ABC about 8.3 million. The full ratings list is on Page 10.

* Mirroring the performances of the networks were the premieres of two news magazines. NBC’s “Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow” handily won its time period Wednesday night and finished as the week’s 19th most-watched program. ABC’s “PrimeTime Live,” which debuted the following night, ran third in its time slot and ranked 37th among the week’s 80 prime-time shows.
