Jack McCarley, a 22-year Bullock’s veteran who most recently was vice president of public affairs, will leave the company Sept. 4 because his job has been eliminated by R.H. Macy & Co., the chain’s owner.

The duties will be handled by Bud Wright, executive vice president of Macy’s South/Bullock’s, based in Atlanta. The change is in line with others that Macy’s has made to consolidate operations in Atlanta.

McCarley, 60, worked for 10 years at Sears, Roebuck & Co. before joining Bullock’s, where he was a store manager for 13 years. He was named vice president of public affairs in 1985. Last year, after Macy’s bought Bullock’s, Bullocks Wilshire and I. Magnin, his responsibilities were broadened to cover the specialty stores as well as Macy’s California, based in San Francisco.
