Birch Camp
Wow! According to two letters (July 21), I now have a narrow view of the world, no compassion for other people, and can’t think for myself--and all because I attended the John Birch Society Summer Youth Camp, reported by Scott Harris (Metro, July 3).
What Birch Camp actually taught was to listen to all viewpoints, then make up our own mind. Whereas most schools promote Marxism, atheism, and teen-age immorality, Birch Camp asked us to listen to our parents, help restore traditional family values, understand that rights come from God (not government), and oppose racism, communism, and too much big government.
I hated to go, but I loved it! For a much broader world view, writers Esther Smith and Larry Kelbley should join me next year at Birch Camp!
