UCLA Received $104.8 Million in 1988-’89
UCLA has received $104.8 million in private gifts and grants during the 1988-89 fiscal year, university officials announced.
The contributions, received between July 1, 1988, and June 30, 1989, will go largely to fellowships to support graduate students and endowed chairs to attract faculty, spokeswoman Karen Mack said.
Each year since 1971, UCLA has led all UC campuses in the amount of private gifts received, Mack said. The school in December concluded a 6 1/2-year campaign to raise money for academic programs, which garnered a total of $373 million.
The university has an annual operating budget of $1.4 billion, Mack said.
