Arvida, a national residential and business developer, has contributed $150,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of the South Coast Area, officials of the club announced. They said the gift is the first major contribution to the club’s recently announced capital development campaign.

“This generous donation made by Arvida means the Boys and Girls Club will be able to build a 9,000-square-foot enclosed gymnasium,” said Kent Campbell, executive director of the club. The club hopes to raise $750,000 for its new additions, which will consist of the gym, a teen center, game room and learning center.

The club, formed in 1965, serves boys and girls from ages 6 to 18 who live in south Orange County.

“The Boys and Girls Club is a very worthwhile program for youth and one that we are very proud to contribute to,” said Mo Tidemanis, vice president and general manager for Arvida’s San Clemente planned community, Talega Valley. “Promoting the quality of life in San Clemente is something we believe in and are proud to support.”
