Bradley’s Fight for Political Survival

Share

In the interests of good government in Los Angeles, Mayor Bradley should turn in his resignation at this time in favor of whatever successor government regulations require. His time has come and gone, and he is showing his age. If Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky were a Mafioso type, he would be putting out contracts on the political advisers who told him he had no chance in a mayorality race. Councilman Nate Holden stepped in late and did very well on a campaign trail which Yaroslavsky feared to tread.

There is still a place for Bradley if his successor would take advantage of his contacts, charm and remaining strength. Years back in the Big Apple when Jimmy Walker was mayor, he had an official glad-hander, greeter, traveler, cutter of ribbons and baby kisser named Grover Whalen who did a great job running public relations and making public appearances so that Mayor Walker could concentrate on city government. Let’s cap or empty the present can of worms and get on with the business of Los Angeles.
