Britain’s weekly tabloid, the News of the World, published an apology to Clint Eastwood on Sunday and said it had agreed to pay a large sum in libel damages for articles published July 9 under the headline “Go On Clint, Make My Day.” The amount of damages was not disclosed, but Eastwood, famous for his film roles as a laconic Western “tough guy,” told reporters he would donate the money to charity.
