The Oregon Symphony Assn.’s first two concerts of the season have been canceled in a contract dispute over wages and hours with its 85 musicians. Orchestra management said it considers the musicians to be on strike, which the union disputed. Contract talks have been going on for nine months. The players’ three-year contract expired on June 13. The American Symphony Orchestra League ranked the Oregon Symphony’s pay 32nd among the country’s 40 major symphony orchestras.
