The Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet will make the only West Coast stop of its 1990 U.S. tour in Costa Mesa next summer, according to the troupe’s most recent Season Guide.

The place has not been not specified, but the probable choice for the troupe--the touring section of Britain’s Royal Ballet at Covent Garden--would be the Orange County Performing Arts Center. Center officials could not be reached for comment, however. According to the guide, an announcement of the coming season sent to company supporters, the company will open a five-week, three-city U.S. tour in New York on July 2, moving next to the Kennedy Center in Washington.

Casting and repertory have not yet been announced.

Founded in 1946 by Dame Ninette de Valois, the company last was seen in the United States in 1986, after an absence of 15 years.

The company announced in January that it will move in August, 1990, to the industrial city of Birmingham, England’s second-largest city. The move was spurred by Birmingham’s offer of $10.6 million for the company. Birmingham is 110 miles northwest of London.

KIROV CHANGES

The Orange County Performing Arts Center will not refund tickets to programs that have casting changes.
