The teen-age stepson of longtime Los Angeles news anchorman Jerry Dunphy died Tuesday in a car accident in Sonora, Tex., a KHJ-TV spokeswoman said.
Rob Milstead, an 18-year-old Santa Monica City College student, was killed in a single-car crash, said Andi Sporkin, director of publicity for Buena Vista Television and acting spokeswoman for KHJ-TV, where Dunphy will go to work next month.
The youth was the son of Dunphy’s wife, Sandra Dunphy, and her former husband, Bill Milstead.
The younger Milstead, who was driving at the time of the accident, had been vacationing with a friend, who suffered minor injuries, Sporkin said.
Milstead lived in Encino with his mother, who is a makeup artist at KABC-TV Channel 7, and Dunphy, Sporkin said.
