Former major league infielder Dale Berra was among 25 indicted in connection with a five-county drug raid, authorities said.

A Morris County grand jury returned the indictment Wednesday against Berra, 32, charging him with possessing cocaine, officials said. He is the son of Hall of Fame catcher Yogi Berra.

Most of the remaining defendants were charged with conspiring to violate state narcotics laws.

Berra, of Glen Ridge, was arrested April 20 after a six-month investigation into a drug operation that allegedly distributed $15,000-$20,000 worth of cocaine each week in Essex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset and Union counties.

He is accused of meeting several times with John Bailey, whom authorities have described as the key figure in the operation.

Berra played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the New York Yankees.
