Duty On Canadian Pork Approved: The International Trade Commission cleared the way for a duty on imports of subsidized Canadian pork, ruling that the shipments have hurt U.S. meatpackers. However, Canada is contesting the duty before a two-nation panel set up by the U.S.-Canada Free Trade Agreement and could appeal the commission’s 3-2 ruling. After the ruling, the Department of Commerce levied a duty of 3-cents-a-pound on imports of Canadian fresh, chilled and frozen pork to the United States.
