Key Witness Denies Murdering 2 in ’85

The prosecution’s key witness in the 1985 slayings of two college sweethearts denied on Monday that he was the gunman who marched Brian Edward Harris, 20, and Michelle Anne Boyd, 19, into a secluded field and shot them in the back of the head.

DeAndre Brown, 25, of Los Angeles, insisted during testimony in Santa Monica Superior Court that Stanley Davis, 23, a neighborhood friend, was the person who took the pair to a darkened spot off Mulholland Drive in the Santa Monica Mountains and killed them.

Brown, who was given immunity from prosecution for his testimony, said he was sitting in Harris’ car a short distance from where the two students were killed, but Davis’ lawyers have argued that he is lying about his involvement.
