Occidental Tests Show Reserves: Occidental Petroleum Corp. said test wells showed recoverable oil reserves of about 100 million barrels in a North Sea oil field operated by the Los Angeles-based oil company. The oil is off the coast of the United Kingdom in the East Piper field, which Occidental discovered in January, 1988. The field is about five miles from the pipeline system owned by Occidental and a consortium of oil firms. The company will decide shortly how to develop the reserve.
