A telephone tip from a woman who identified herself as the alleged assailant’s sister led Oakland police to arrest the man they believe killed Black Panther co-founder Huey Newton, the San Francisco Examiner reported. Police records state that Tyrone Robinson, who has been charged with Newton’s murder, was arrested after his sister provided officers with leads, the newspaper said. Robinson, a paroled bank robber, is being held without bail in Oakland, officials said. The Examiner said that a detailed log was kept by Oakland Homicide Sgt. Dan Mercado, who investigated Newton’s death. According to the log, police received a call 12 hours after the killing from a woman who said she believed that her brother had shot Newton in the head.
