Kaifu Arrives to ‘Nurture’ U.S. Ties

SAN FRANCISCO —
Japanese Prime Minister Toshiki Kaifu arrived in the United States today to “nurture” U.S.-Japan ties and work on global problems with President Bush.
Kaifu, 58, arrived about 10:30 a.m. aboard a chartered Japan Air Lines plane, accompanied by his wife, Sachiyo, and six members of Parliament on the first stop in a 12-day tour of the United States, Mexico and Canada.
