County Sues 7 Firms for Toxics Violations

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office Wednesday served civil lawsuits on seven firms for failing to comply with a state law requiring disclosure of hazardous materials on their premises.

Before the suits were filed, all seven companies were inspected at least twice by the county Fire Department and received two written notices that they were not in compliance with the state’s Hazardous Materials Disclosure Law.

The lawsuits seek injunctions and fines that could reach $5,000 a day.

Those sued were Bob Edwards Tire Center, Glendora; Commercial Waste Paper Inc., South El Monte; Glendora Ace Hardware, Glendora; Ralph’s Wood Fixtures, Los Angeles; Milad’s Chevron Station, Azusa; Colima Car Wash, Rowland Heights, and U-Haul International, Gardena.
