Academy-Award winner ANJELICA HUSTON has purchased the Beverly Hills-area home of actor RICHARD CHAMBERLAIN, who is moving to Hawaii for the filming of his new TV series “Island Son.”

Huston, who is on vacation this week in her new home, just completed a WOODY ALLEN movie in New York. Earlier, she returned from Cannes where she was working on the PAUL MAZURSKY film “Enemies,” and she was photographed for the September issue of Bazaar magazine as one of the 10 most beautiful women.

Also this month, she will attend the Emmy awards as a nominee for her role in the TV miniseries “Lonesome Dove.”

Built in the 1950s, her 3,500-square-foot house--behind gates, with two bedrooms, maid’s quarters, gardens and a pool--was totally remodeled by Chamberlain in an Oriental motif while he was starring in the TV miniseries “Shogun.”

Chamberlain’s name, as the seller, was revealed by industry sources not involved in the nearly $2-million transaction.

Huston sold her California Bungalow in Bel-Air with a pool, where she had lived for the last seven years, to movie director LEWIS TEAGUE, who is getting ready to leave for Spain, where he will direct Charlie Sheen in the film “Navy SEAL.”

“Miss Huston will live in her new home without JACK NICHOLSON, her boyfriend of several years,” said Joe Coons of Merrill Lynch/Rodeo Realty, who represented the actress in both real estate deals. “When I asked her why they live apart, she said, ‘It just works out better that way.’ But they will live a stone’s throw away from each other.”

Both live in what is known as the Beverly Hills Post Office Area. Nicholson resides just off Mulholland Drive in a house reached by a driveway shared by his neighbor, actor Marlon Brando.

Myra Nourmand of Nourmand & Associates, Beverly Hills, represented Chamberlain.

A recent column item that mentioned producer DOUGLAS S. CRAMER’S Santa Ynez Valley ranch brought this from his executive assistant, Elaine Strom:

“I just wanted to let you know that his ranch is spread over 380 acres rather than 60. . . . You also missed the names of his newest Santa Ynez neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Ross (LEE RADZIWELL, sister of JACQUELINE KENNEDY ONASSIS).” Cramer was listed as one of many celebrity neighbors of the late Ray Kroc’s 240-acre ranch, which is for sale at $14 million.

Speaking of HERB ROSS (director of such movies as “Funny Girl” and “The Sunshine Boys”) . . . his 15,500-square-foot Santa Monica home overlooking the Riviera Country Club is in escrow, informed sources say, in the $4-million range.

The five-bedroom, eight-bath house was built about seven years ago for Ross and his then-wife, prima ballerina Nora Kaye, who died in 1987. Ross and Radziwell, his bride of a year, have a New York home besides their Santa Ynez ranch.
