Diodes Inc. Renews Talks on Possible Merger

Share

Diodes Inc., a troubled Chatsworth-based manufacturer of electronic semiconductor components, said it renewed talks with Willas Co. Ltd. regarding a possible merger or consolidation. In 1986, Diodes and Willas, a privately owned Hong Kong electronics firm, agreed in principle for Diodes to acquire Willas for undisclosed terms, but the deal was never completed.

David Lloyd, president and chief executive of Diodes, and Lawrence Leung, chairman of Willas, said no agreement had been reached, but that they hope to decide soon whether a merger is feasible.

Diodes reported a loss of $2.9 million in the fiscal year ended April 30, on sales of $13.8 million. Willas had sales of $26 million in the fiscal year ended March 31.
