The judge in the Night Stalker trial today denied a mistrial motion made by defense lawyers who argued that jury deliberations had become tainted in the aftermath of the murder of a juror by her boyfriend.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Tynan also refused a defense request to disqualify the jury because of the slaying in August of juror Phyllis Singletary.

Following her death, Tynan replaced Singletary with an alternate juror and ordered deliberations to begin anew.
