Notre Dame moved up to No. 1 in the Associated Press college football poll, while USC, Florida State and Louisiana State dropped out of the top 10.
Notre Dame received 31 first-place votes and 1,430 points from a nationwide panel of sportswriters and sportscasters. Michigan was second with 18 first-place votes and 1,419 points.
Miami was ranked No. 3, followed by Nebraska, Auburn, UCLA and Arkansas. Oklahoma, Colorado and Clemson round out the top 10. Illinois was ranked 11th and Penn State 12th.
USC fell from No. 5 to No. 13, Florida State dropped from No. 6 to No. 16 and LSU plummeted from No. 7 to No. 21 after losses.
