Team Cup volleyball, featuring America’s most successful men’s indoor and beach players, will open its fourth season tonight at the Forum with a pair of matches. Play begins at 7 p.m.

The only professional indoor league in the United States is offering $100,000 in prize money to the 24 players competing in the six-night series.

Stars from the gold-medal-winning 1988 U.S. Olympic team will serve as the captains--Karch Kiraly with Toyota, Steve Timmons with Reebok, Bob Ctvrtlik with A’ME and Jeff Stork with Labatt’s.

Sinjin Smith, Randy Stoklos, Tim Hovland and Mike Dodd, the leading money-winners on the beach tour, are also competing.

Stork and Steve Obradovich have both been on the championship team the three previous years but with Obradovich representing Reebok and Stork playing for Labatt’s; at least one won’t be winning a fourth straight.

The competition continues through Sept. 29, with the next session set for next Wednesday.
