The NFL Players Assn., in a continuing feud with the league over its drug-testing policy, released a statement noting that a laboratory used by the NFL for testing has twice this year failed to meet the standard of accreditation set by the International Olympic Committee.
The union, citing concern about the accuracy of the testing that recently found 13 players had positive results, noted that the Calgary laboratory used during the 1988 Winter Olympics and now by the league for some of the 2,200 tests failed its IOC re-accreditation test last January.
The facility failed the test again May 8 and is banned from testing samples from international sports events.
