Los Angeles police have cracked down on four bookmaking operations, arresting five people during the weekend’s kickoff of the professional and major college football seasons.

North Hollywood Division Officer Timothy Brausam said Sunday that vice detectives late Saturday arrested Barbara Tullos, 45, at 222 E. Forest Ave., Arcadia; her husband, Nick Tullos, 49, at 3750 Blanche Ave., Pasadena; Robert Raff, 68, and his son, Edward, 31, at 4521 Colfax Ave., North Hollywood, and Carlita Smith, 59, at 3671 Jasmine St., Venice.

A bookmaking operation that used call-forwarding in Inglewood also was raided in a simultaneous strike by police Saturday afternoon, but no arrests were made.
