A jailed Iranian terrorist was released in Britain and deported in a move that could secure the freedom of an English businessman held in Iran on espionage charges since 1985. Although no official explanation was given for the early release of Kouroush Fouladi, the pro-government Tehran Times said Iran may now consider releasing Roger Cooper, a middle-aged British businessman. Fouladi, a minor official at Iran’s Embassy in London, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for terrorism after his car blew up in London in 1980. Authorities said that bombs in his car were intended for use against anti-Iranian demonstrators.
