After a year and a half of planning, the Bolshoi Ballet has arrived for its first-ever visit to Israel. Israeli President Chaim Herzog and other dignitaries are expected to attend the opening performance Wednesday in the ancient Mediterranean port of Caesarea. Other performances are scheduled for Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The Soviet Union cut all diplomatic ties with Israel following the 1967 Middle East war, but relations have recently warmed and the two countries exchanged consular delegations in 1987.
