Police said Monday that foul play is suspected in the disappearance last weekend of a retarded 24-year-old woman last seen walking toward the mental-care facility where she lived.

Kara McElravy--described as 5 feet, 3 inches, 115 pounds, brown hair and blue eyes--was last seen Saturday about 11:45 a.m. walking toward Petite Amis in the 13000 block of Wilson Street in Garden Grove, a mental-care facility for retarded adults, Garden Grove Police Sgt. Mark Byrne said.

Byrne said that McElravy “functions at a 13-year-old level, but shows no outward signs of mental retardation.”

“She is overly friendly and naive and has no personal possessions or (identification) with her.”

When last seen by a friend, she was wearing a pink-and-white horizontally striped shirt, light blue pants and black boots, he said. Other distinguishing marks include warts under her chin.

“She left all her property she normally wouldn’t leave,” Byrne said. “It was out of character for her.”

Anyone with information about McElravy’s whereabouts is asked to contact police at (714) 741-5704.
