SDSU defeated UC Davis, 3-1, in Aztec Bowl. Scoring for the Aztecs (3-0-1) were Jeff Betts, Chugger Adair and Eric Wynalda, who missed the first three games of the season with mononucleosis.

Proceeds from an exhibition soccer match Oct. 1 between SDSU and the Sockers will be divided equally between the Aztec men’s soccer program and a memorial fund for Kaz Deyna, the former Socker star who was killed in a traffic accident Sept. 1.

Christian Heritage, fielding its first men’s soccer team, defeated Cuyamaca College, 4-0, in its opener. Sean Ramsey had two goals for the Coyotes (2-1).

WOMEN’S SOCCER

The opener for the SDSU women’s team, originally scheduled for Thursday at La Verne, has been cancelled. The Aztec will open the season Saturday against Whittier in Aztec Bowl at 2 p.m.

The U.S. International University women’s team scored its first goal of the year in a 1-0 victory over visiting UC Davis. Freshman Kim White scored on a free kick with 11:30 remaining. USIU is 1-2.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Pacific Christian College (3-3), the defending NCAA Division II champions, defeated Christian Heritage, 15-2, 15-11, 15-11.

Host Cal State Bakersfield (3-3) defeated UC San Diego, 15-8, 12-15, 15-10, 15-10. Diane Klintworth led UCSD (5-5) with eight kills, and Elizabeth Pan and Allison Hensleit each had six.
