Compaq Computer Corp. today announced the purchase of the former Wang Laboratories manufacturing plant in Stirling, Scotland, to be used as the base for Compaq’s expanding service and repair operations.

The plant, which is expected to be operational by 1990, will create 125 jobs involving skills required to provide service, spare parts and repair operations.

The acquisition of the Wang plant comes about three months after Compaq announced a $37.5-million expansion at its current manufacturing and office complex in Erskine, Scotland.
