Twenty-five rockets exploded around Kabul airport, killing one soldier, injuring three and setting a Soviet supply plane on fire, witnesses in Afghanistan said. Workers at Kabul airport said the facility was shut down after the attack, but air traffic resumed in the afternoon. Officials did not confirm the attack. Meanwhile, a guerrilla commander announced that his fighters have started a northern offensive to cut supply routes to the capital. Ahmed Shah Masoud, military commander of Jamaat-i-Islami, said his forces are attacking four areas along the key Salang Highway north of Kabul, including the government’s biggest air force base at Bagram.
