Deputies Shoot Suspected Drug Dealer
A suspected drug dealer was shot and critically injured by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies in Inglewood, authorities said Sunday.
The unidentified man’s car was stopped by deputies in the 3300 block of 80th Street on Saturday evening after he was seen conducting a drug transaction, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
The man refused to get out of the car and then was seen bending over the seat, Deputy Chris Wahla said. Fearing the man was reaching for a gun, one deputy fired a shotgun blast into the car, Wahla said. The man was hit by several pellets and taken to UCLA Medical Center in Westwood.
No weapon was recovered from the car, although deputies discovered several ounces of cocaine, Wahla said.
The shooting was under investigation by the department’s homicide bureau.
