Michael Burbank has been named resident manager for Kidder, Peabody & Co. He is responsible for 50 employees and all branch operations in San Diego.

At 31 years old, Burbank is the youngest manager in the investment banking and brokerage firm’s nationwide network. He joined Kidder, Peabody in 1986 as a vice president of retirement planning.

Burbank entered the securities brokerage business in 1983 with Shearson Lehman Bros. in La Jolla. Burbank, a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara, went through training with Shearson and completed his certified financial planner designation.

A volleyball enthusiast since his college days, Burbank now is a board member for the San Diego-based United States Olympic Volleyball program. He also is chairman of the Exploring Program for the Boy Scouts of America-San Diego Council.

Burbank, a native of Florida, lives in Del Mar with his wife, Jeri, who has her own public relations and marketing firm.
