Pasadena : Hospital Site Burgled Again

Burglars stole more than 750 feet of copper wire worth an estimated $4,000 from the Huntington Memorial Hospital construction site in Pasadena on Monday, police said.
It was the second time in seven days that wire had been stolen from the site. The Tuesday before, burglars took 216 feet of copper wire that had been installed to provide power to the hospital.
Bob Anderson, the project manager, said security will be at the top of the agenda at a meeting with the general contractors on Monday. There have been at least four other thefts of construction material from the site, workers said.
Russell Pearce, the site foreman, said the only use for the missing copper wire would be for scrap metal. Scrap copper sells for nearly $1 a pound.
The construction is the first phase to replace Huntington Memorial and is scheduled to be completed by January, 1991.
