Cerritos : Dial-a-Ride Service Will Begin Operation Saturday
Starting Saturday, senior citizens and handicapped residents of Cerritos can call a new dial-a-ride service when they want to travel around the community, be it to a shopping mall, a doctor’s office or a friend’s house for lunch.
The curb-to-curb service, recently approved by the City Council, is being provided under a contract with the Orange County Transit District, which will provide a wheelchair-accessible van every day of the week except Sunday and major holidays.
Service will be offered from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. A one-way ride will cost 80 cents.
The service area includes parts of Norwalk, La Palma, Lakewood and Bellflower. It extends north to Alondra Boulevard, east to Valley View Avenue, south to Del Amo Boulevard and west to Bellflower Boulevard.
Riders must make reservations on the same day as the trip by calling 402-RIDE or (714) 761-1910.
