Colombian police said they discovered more than a ton of U.S.-bound cocaine at the home of a former government official. The cocaine was found in cigarette boxes at the home of Pedro Rodriguez, a former local council member, in the city of Barranquilla. Police said four people were arrested and that Rodriguez is being sought. Meanwhile, Brazil’s former top drug official, Laercio Pellegrino, said in an interview published in the newspaper O Globo that eight of Colombia’s 12 most-wanted drug barons are hiding in Brazil. However, the Colombian government and the U.S. Embassy in Bogota dismissed the report.
