Computer & Communications Technology (CCT) said Monday that it expects to report a “substantial loss due to revenue shortfall” for its third quarter. The company said several new product lines have been adversely affected by “numerous component shortages.”

CCT has been severely buffeted over the last year by a drop-off in demand for its disk-drive recording heads. The company was forced to lay off more than 1,000 employees at its Tijuana plant last year, as well as 200 employees at its San Diego headquarters. CCT posted a loss of $15.9 million on 1988 revenue of $107.8 million.

Revenues have already dropped significantly for CCT this year. For the first two quarters ended June 30, CCT reported an $82,000 loss on revenue of $33.8 million, compared with a loss of $2.2 million on revenue of $57.8 million for the first six months in 1988.
