Carnival Cruise Lines Inc.: The Miami-based cruise ship operator said third-quarter profit rose 50% from a year ago to $84.4 million. Revenue jumped 157% to $405.2 million. The company attributed the increases to additional capacity from its purchase of the Holland America Line and to the opening of its casino in the Bahamas.
