San Francisco Mayor Art Agnos applauded the full-time filming of two network television shows in San Francisco on Wednesday and personally thanked the stars and production chiefs. “There is no question the film business is good for San Francisco,” Agnos declared at a fancy City Hall news conference and feast. He credited Lorimar Productions’ “Midnight Caller” and CBS-TV’s “Wolf” with bringing “$16 million (this season) into the local economy.” Agnos said that the two series employ more than 450 local people as actors and skilled workmen for a weekly payroll of more than $280,000, plus prop, wardrobe and other purchases. The high point of the event occurred when the mayor interrupted “Wolf” star Jack Scalia--who at the moment was lavishing praise on the city--to give him a hearty kiss on the cheek.
