A pacemaker was attached again to former Philippine President Ferdinand E. Marcos after he suffered an erratic heartbeat. An aide, Arturo Aruiza, said Marcos’ heart stopped beating after his daily dialysis treatment, and the pacemaker was used until it restarted. But Eugene Tiwanak, assistant administrator of St. Francis Medical Center in Honolulu, denied that Marcos’ heart had stopped, saying there was “an episode of arrhythmia (erratic heartbeat),” and the pacemaker assisted and stabilized the heart. A similar episode occurred Monday night.
