A member of the South Korean Parliament told a court that he was tortured by security agents to make him confess to spying for North Korea. Suh Kyung Won, 52, denied prosecution charges that he had been instructed by North Korea to set up a spy cell in the National Assembly when he secretly visited the north in August, 1988. Suh is accused of violating the law against unauthorized visits to the north. Suh was expelled from the opposition Party for Peace and Democracy.
