Doctors discovered during surgery that the back problem of Drazen Petrovic of the Portland Trailblazers is not as serious as was previously thought.

Team physician Robert Cook said doctors initially believed that the Yugoslav guard was suffering from a partially ruptured disk. But when Petrovic underwent surgery, doctors who expected to remove a disk fragment found that the disk was fine.

The problem, instead, was a benign cyst, which was removed. Petrovic should be able to play in about three weeks.
