Conference and Trade Show Set for Community Associations

The Community Associations Institute will present its annual educational conference and trade show on Oct. 14 at the Holiday Inn Crown Plaza, 5985 W. Century Blvd., Los Angeles.

The all-day event, starting with registration at 9:30 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m., will offer three concurrent sessions covering management, accounting, legal and maintenance issues of interest to condominium owners and members of homeowners’ associations.

Morning sessions will feature Jerry Murase on the topic of disputes through arbitration; Steve L. Kanne will update the associations’ governing documents and Lloyd Kennedy will focus on stretching the landscape dollar. Featured luncheon speakers include James Sweatt, Daniel Shapiro and David Regenbaum.

Early afternoon topics will range from management ethics to investing association funds to asbestos issues with speakers David Regenbaum, Nico F. March, Larry Pothast, Gary E. Hamilton, Donald Boatwright and Michael Long. Other sessions will deal with roofing problems, researching construction defects and reserves. Peter Van Dijk, Gary Scholten, Roger M. Howard, Max Schartz, Robert N. Nordlund and Steven Besser are the featured experts.
