Checchi to Review NWA Salaries: Los Angeles investor Alfred A. Checchi, the new owner of Northwest Airlines, said a review of executive salaries at the airline is under way to prevent more defections. Five senior managers, including Chief Executive Steven G. Rothmeier, resigned last week. Checchi, at a news conference in St. Paul, Minn., also said he plans to develop land owned by Northwest in Tokyo, perhaps with a Japanese partner.
