A village submerged 50 years ago during construction of one of Britain’s largest reservoirs has reappeared after a spell of dry weather.

The foundations of Derwent village showed up in Ladybower Reservoir near Sheffield.

The village was abandoned by its 170 people and its buildings were demolished during the construction of the reservoir in 1937-1939, which serves the cities of Sheffield, Derby, Nottingham and Leicester but flooded part of the Derwent river valley.
