A Belgian Jewish leader was shot and critically wounded outside the Brussels hospital where he worked, a hospital doctor said. Dr. Joseph Wybran, chairman of the Coordination Committee for Jewish Organizations in Belgium, was hit in the head by a single bullet in the hospital parking area. “He is in critical condition,” the doctor said. Belga news agency said Wybran, 48, had recently returned from a trip to Poland. Belga said no one claimed responsibility for the shooting.
