CANBERRA, Australia —
Australia’s Labor government could win an election now despite severe problems with the economy, an opinion poll indicated Wednesday.
Support for Labor, scheduled to call an election by next July 1, is 43.5% against 42.5% for the coalition of Liberal and National parties, the poll, based on interviews with 2,226 voters, showed.
Labor now has a 22-seat majority over the coalition in the House of Representatives.
